This is just something that I always wondered.

How long does it take until your status goes to offline? ex: I noticed some people show that they're still online even though their last post or viewing was 1 hour ago.

It can be confusing sometimes it shows that the person is online even though they really may NOT be...

Its about an hour and a bit before their status goes to offline. It won't show anyone as offline straight away as soon as they go unless they log out.
