Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but I would like to make a comment regarding a thread of mine that was closed: http://www.pchelpforum.com/network-h...tml#post162135

It seems to me the question about the p2p software was only posted as an excuse to close the thread, the question I posted could have been answered without involving any p2p software, and was not really related to p2p software imho. I'm always frustrated when I can't reply to the mod that wants to close my thread because it is in fact closed, so I felt like posting it here.

I have always found that it never pays to question a moderators decision to close or delete posts. It is a quick way to get on the short list to the sin bin...

Hello there Ge64.

We have discussed this quite extensively among the staff lately, and have reached a consensus.

Illegal activities are definitely not encouraged. But in your case you are not asking for help for sharing P2P files (which is illegal, although the technology by itself is not), rather you are asking for a firewall that would suit your purpose. I believe that is alright, but we will wait for more comments from the staff when they come online.

Thank you for your comments.

@Arctos
Maybe other forums would do that, but PCHF would definitely not ban/warn members for simply raising reasonable objections to any moderator's action.

Everyone is welcome to question why a post has been closed.

Ge64, we don't find reasons to close posts - and I'm very sorry that it has appeared this way to you. We do everything in our knowledge to help with whatever problems that our members - especially those who have helped us by donating - experience, as long as we can confirm that the question itself has no illegal ramifications. Due to the fact that we have mods and techs from all across the world and in different nationalities, it is extremely hard to find a medium with which to judge this on, so we have to do it on a country by country basis.

As there was no particular mention of P2P software or any reason for us to believe that you use these programs to illegally transfer files, I'll reopen the thread for continued assistance - only from those techs & mods who see believe it's within their moral and legal standing to do so.

Please accept my most humble apologise on behalf of PCHF and lets see if we can fix this problem for you.

Thanks very much for your help and replies everyone. I didn't mean to make a big deal out of it, though I felt the reason the thread was closed wasn't really relevant. Apologies accepted

By the way, is there any subforum or thread besides this where you are supposed to post such 'issues', or should they just be posted here?

They can be posted here, or you may just send a pm to the staff member in question.
