Default finding <news> threads

Jow Hengis, everytime I search for unanswered thread, the most threads I find are <news>. Is there a way to make these invisible for the 'search unanswered threads' function??

I have searched for a solution to this but sadly, it still evades me. I am happy for a VBulletin expert to suggest a fix here...
