Spacekid, you left out the build your own option! Also matey, Hewlett Packard bought up Compaq and they are not officially HP, there is no Compaq! I'm morally against HP, mainly cos they call them all Bells, whats that all about??

Dell, well know a fair amount about them now, they seem pretty good, except the laptops, check on forums on the D type and you'll get a whole heap of problems!! Truthfully tho, if i need a normal just bog standard pc then dell would be the one cos they are pretty good priced client machines.

of course, pocket pcs then hp have got it cornered!

Rather narrow selection list and repeat the HP/Compact point made by Mort. My answer, none of the above, I'm an Evesham man.

As for horror stories, every computer supplier/maker has them, even IBM.

Your point?

Si

All major suppliers seem to have a problem with expandability, everything is intergrated nowadays which leaves little room for upgrades, this of course is clever as after 2 years you will now need to buy a new PC.

Build your own!

PC's are so capable now a days that its easier to make them last longer so your point is correct.

If I ever go back to a desktop I will self build (long way off).
