the problem showed up way before I installed unible powersuite which is a resource hog...

I don't "feel" because why would of of a sudden would it start crashing now??? I have taken most of the bloatware out and its running leaner than when I got it...

According to you, if I put in this 2gb of ram it will fix this issue. Okay lets say if I do that and the problem still persists?? What then?? I need 7gigs of Ram??? I've had plenty of computers running XP with 1gb of RAM and never had this issue!

Why can't this be approached another way?

the hotfix didn't work due to the fact I have XP SP 3...

here is the other issue, my computer will almost always freeze when the screensaver turns on. this has happened since I bought it. So I had to turn off the screensaver mode, because it is guaranteed to freeze...

can anything be done about that? Like I said this has been happening since the first day I took it out of the box.

I'm glad that that fixed your issue and thank you for posting your solution! Hopefully it is a permanent one and the system stays that ways for long, if it doesn't I am sure you will find another solution!

Guess you were the expert and not me, but at least you did not pay for the advice right, good luck! So we can mark this issue solved now, right?

as far as the glitch, its been 2 nights that the compu has been left idling and remains normal throughout the night...so am thinking it just might have been fixed...

I'll report tomorrow and see if its truly gone...

I'm really appreciative of what you guys do here:mrgreen: :party:mrgreen:

    Hello 4CE.

Your HJT log shows significant damage to your OS, your system files are likely all patched by a file infecter, your system services that should be carrying the MS digital signature aren't showing that.

HJT is programmed not to show legit MS services unless they are altered, and the "Unknown Owner" bit shows the lack of digital signature.

Sorry to say there is nothing we can do, you will need to format.

Your computer has multiple infections, including a backdoor. A backdoor gives intruders complete control of your computer, logs your keystrokes, steal personal information, etc.

You are strongly advised to do the following:
    • Disconnect the computer from the Internet and from any networked computers until it is cleaned.
    • Back up all your important data except programs. The programs can be reinstalled back from the original disc or from the Net.
    • Call all your banks, financial institutions, credit card companies and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and put a watch on your accounts. If you don't mind the hassle, change all your account numbers.
    • From a clean computer, change all your passwords (ISP login password, your email address(es) passwords, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, online groups and forums and any other online activities you carry out which require a username and password).
Do NOT change your passwords from this computer as the attacker will be able to get all the new passwords and transaction records.

Due to its backdoor functionality, your computer is very likely to have been compromised and there is no way that it can be trusted again. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be to do a reformat and reinstallation of the operating system (OS). However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your OS and would like me to attempt to clean your machine, I will be happy to do so.

To help you understand more, please take some time to read the following articles:

What are Remote Access Trojans and why are they dangerous
How do I respond to a possible identity theft and how do I prevent it
When should I do a reformat and reinstallation of my OS
    Where to backup your files

    say what :eek:Z

    O man that sounds bad#!#

So now its infected? cause before I jump to this thread we went through the disinfecting process and it was found to not have infections...so now its infected on top of the malfunctioning...it gets better and better :(

I think 99% of Window OS's are infected that are online :<

I always distrust computers so every time I log in somewhere I always use the Windows virtual keyboard and not the physical keyboard...would they still be able to get my info by what I'm doing?

I would rather try to disinfected before reformatting if possible...this compu came without a disk drive or disk...

thanks Belahzur for the extensive info threads

Moved over to security forums :)

Please click Prework in my signature and follow the instructions there, no promises but we can attempt to clear up any mess left over.

Not sure what's been done to the machine before, but the damaged services aren't the only thing I noticed, your IE is hijacked with a proxy settings, which can be easily removed.

    Oops^^

I deleted those attachments so I can post these ones...is there another way to post pics and files without going through 'attachments'

    View attachment OTL.Txt

I ran the aswMBR as quick scan...

    2 questions...

    1. with the backdoor trojan am I safe using virtual keyboards so hackers don' steal my personal information?

    2. Does running nightly Antivirus scans ruin the computer?

    thanks
