Hi,

I bought my Windows 7 64 Ultimate ages ago, I have had to format my PC; so I am reinstalling Windows using the same disc.

There are a few issues that come up.
Firstly it takes forever to load, and it takes 18+ hours to get to 98%.
Once it gets there it stops and says there is a file missing or something and I get an Error Code 0x80070570.

Now this has happened 3 times of the last 2 days, each time taking 18+hours, the third time however it got to 48% before it gave me the same error.

I remember this happening when I first installed as well, but on the second time it miraculously worked.

I think it is a problem with my DVD Rom, to be honest I rarely use it, but when I have had to it was very slow. I plugged it in my self.

These are the things I have tried.
Re-installing/Re-installing without a boot (As suggested by another forum)
Re-plugging in DVD Rom

Please help!

Hello & Welcome Starkk78 :)

I'll get your issue marked as OPEN to attract the attention of the Windows 7 experts that frequent PCHF.

It would be most helpful if you could complete your [IMG] portion of the User Profile (instructions also available in the PINK link below). That would put your system's information in the small computer icon just right of your name. That will "travel with you" at PCHF so we don't have to ask for it again. Be sure to mark them to be visible. The default is NOT to show them.

Please know that our Staff of Volunteers come from locations around the world so time zones play a big part in how quickly the person with the answer is available to address your question. Your patience is appreciated!

PCHF's own Samuria has a tutorial for creating a USB Windows 7 Installation. It is found here

Starkk,

Thank you for putting a smile on my face "I bought my Windows 7 64 Ultimate ages ago". You must live in a different time dimension. Even XP just celebrated its 10th birthday.

Now to your problem.

To rule out certain possibilities and also to help everyone ever wanting to be of assistance, we need you to fill in your System Specs as well as possible.

HOW TO FILL IN YOUR PCHELPFORUM SYSTEM SPECS

Under Settings and Options (in column on left), Edit Options |
Thread Display Options

fill in as much info as possible
Very important is the manufacturer and model of your computer

There is the possibility that the DVD is defective. If that is the case, then putting the dvd on a usb stick isn't going to solve any problems.

Do you have any reason to suspect that your dvd reader is defective?

Is the hard disk new or is there already an operating system on the disk?

Wow you guys are really helpful. Thank you so much I am really glad I joined this forum.

I tried as best I could to fill out the specs, I can't open my case and can't get to any settings on the computer because it is currently trying to install Windows 7 64bit again.

It has been on for about 13hours and it is on 87%, fingers crossed.

Once I find my USB, somewhere >.< , I will try boot from the USB. I think that is a good idea, because I am 63% sure my DVD ROM is defective. Its a LG something or other; I bought it in 2008.

The harddisk, Seagate 250gb had Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on, I had installed it using the same disc a while back (LOL @nameisuser, it felt like ages ago), it took 2 install attempts and it also took a LONG time to install. I formatted it now, because I kept getting Blue Screen :(

The worst part is I just bought The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and installed it and now I can't play :(

Starkk,
If the DVD is defective, then any usb that you make from the dvd will also be defective.

So on the the fourth attempt it went to 99%, then gave me BLUE SCREEN of DEATH.

Sigh... well I am out tomorrow to buy a new DVD ROM and let the computer guys install it. Lets hope that works. Thank you for your help thus far.

P.S. I am using Internet Explorer to post this... and I really really catagorically dislike Internet Explorer.

Starkk,
Hope all goes well.

I too am not a fan of IE and very deeply resent Microsoft forcing me, at times, to use IE to accomplish certain tasks.

My personal choice is firefox, primarily because of the add-ons, such as, NoScript, AutoPager, MyWot, AdBlockPlus.

for simple uses, then the simplicity of Chrome is desirable, but I've tried Chrome and found Chrome to be thoroughly inadequate for my needs. A milisec here or there is not as important as the functionality.
