Are you itching for Windows 8 and all the shiny things it promises..or are you cautious (you were a Vista owner ;))?

Are you the kind of person that installs a new OS on the day of release and then uses it as your main OS?

From what I have seen, it certainly lends itself more to that, yea.

I think the hype behind Windows 8 is derived from curiosity for such a new interface. People are interested in whether or not it will succeed or become something such as BOB... I like the ideas they have, but the drastic changes; they took a big leap of faith on that one, it's a gamble for sure...

Windows 7, I don't think they had a better OS yet. 7 was great for me.

Windows 8 by itself feels something more ergonomically convenient for a tablet, a phone, or some other small device like the collection Apple has with iPods, iPads, etc... For a desktop computer though? What were the developers thinking on that one? Sure, great new touch screen functionality, but what good is it if i'm perfectly fine with my mouse and keyboard? Pretty useless then, and I wouldn't want to have to go out and buy a touch screen monitor just so that I can sit at my desktop and have to hold my arm out horizontally to touch the screen and make gestures for the next 2 hours.

Maybe if I was in a conference and had a nice monitor like a smartboard, but for stay at home productivity? Nope...

I have faith in new developer concepts like HyperV, and the new Protogon filesystem which is now been named ReFS I believe (encrypting filesystem), i've had tabs on that for a while now, they had this in development since Windows 7 actually; it was visible in the source headers, but was not being used anywhere by the system, and no calls to it.

It seems to still have some bugs however, with file search, and at the current moment does NOT seem to be ready to boot from that particular filesystem.

3 of the files that are used when I tested this formatting:

    1. untfs.dll
    2. uprotogon.dll
    3. ifsutil.dll
    4. format.com

Also the minimum volume size supported for Protogon/ReFS is exactly 512Mb, whereas I believe NTFS is only 256Kb (and I thought this was a bulky filesystem). However capacity for RAM, and even hard drives is expanding as time goes on, so I don't see an issue with that. Bootcode is not supported yet, from bootsect.exe complaining. Meaning it's not yet possible to boot directly from a protogon/ReFS formatted volume, and the size of the system files seems to be less than on NTFS, and giving more available space on the volume to your own files from the get go. Very sketchy from when I first gave it a test though as i've said.

A few others with Windows 8 that i've heard by word:

    - Apparently goodbye DVD playback? (Why remove that)
    - No Media Center (Why)
    - No Start Menu (I didn't like the tileview that much for my desktop, but now removing the start orb, I wasn't quite a fan of that)
