    Hi ,
My name is Amar, I work for Social Media and Community Team at Dell,

With regards to your concern the port on your system is USB 3.0/E sata port which is the advanced version of USB 2.0 ,
You can plug in almost any device which has similar interface Like external hard drive, USB Keyboard & mouse.

Please check the below attached link for more details.

The port does not appear damaged. Are you saying the port no longer functions?

Lenovo forum has no answer. Yet, the Antman has divined the answer.

The port is a USB 2.0 port. Variations of your particular model include an eSATA/USB combo port. Your model does not have this feature. The casing cutout is sized to fit the combo port. Add a small plastic tab to cover the eSATA key and you get what you see on your model. Remove (or do not install) the small plastic tab, and the casing will also house a motherboard with the combo port.

One day, Dell will be able to Google that.
