I have a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v1 Dual Band Gigabit router and am having a problem with the wired connection with my PC. Everything wireless in the house works fine. In fact, I also have a Direct TV box hooked up for on demand and a sling box hooked up (both wired) and they work find. It's just my PC that is having issues. If I bypass the router and hook straight into the modem, it runs fine also so I have something going on between the router and this PC that has me stumped. By no means am I a computer expert but I know a little.

I updated the NIC driver and this did not help. Before the update in the device manager, it said it was a NIVIDA nForce Network Controller (if I remember right) and now it says NIVIDA nForce 10/100 Mpbs Ethernet. It was suggested that I change my speed and duplex to match the router after I update but I am unsure what to change it to. Could this be the problem or am I way off?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Looks like I forgot to mention that I am running Vista. Sorry about that. I think I should also mention that I did a restore to factory settings thinking it would fix the problem but of course it did not so as of right now, other than firefox and the driver update, it is just as it would be when it is pulled from the box, unless I found a really nasty bug that hung around.

Thanks for taking a look at this.

I will let you know. I will have to download the files to my laptop and transfer them or they will most likely never download. Thanks!

Well if the issue persist in safemode and from what you say the problem is most likely your router.Have you tried to set your router to factory settings?
    http://www.ehow.com/how_2110924_reset-back-factory-default-settings.html

If that does not work then do you have a spare wireless usb adapter lying around(or one that a friend can lend to you for testing) that you can test on your PC it may be worth it to just run the machine with a usb adapter if it works that way rather than spending hours trying to figure out what the issue is.

I have not reset the router. I will give that a shot tomorrow. I don't have a wireless adapter but I can borrow one to see what it does. Something else I thought about today is hooking my laptop up wired and see what that does too. If the laptop runs OK through a cable, would that still indicate the router or would that point back to the PC?

Thanks again for helping out with this.

Good idea and good question,it may work ok with the laptop wired and not with the pc but if the pc works ok with a wireless usb device then I would leave well enough alone. :) Keep me posted have a good night.

So today, I turned off the wifi card in my laptop and plugged a cable into it and it had the same results as my PC so obviously, something is going on with the router. The crappy part is that I cannot even view any of the settings on the router because they will never load.

I am going to try to reset to factory settings to see if that will help and if not, I suppose I will go get a new router and give that a go.
