im confused in opening my port?
Can you list your router make and model?
Here's how to portforward ventrilo on the WBR-2310:
Port Forwarding Ventrilo on the Dlink WBR-2310 - PortForward.com
and yes i use that link in attempting to open the port but it didnt work
Have you disabled your firewall anti-virus and tried?
Thread marked open for more input...
How do you know it doesnt work have you got a static internet ip?
i think not... how do i get it? sorry for my noobness i just want to set up for ventrillo.. im using my laptop to router to connect
Please update your PC Specs (link in my sig), especialy your operating system.
Are you connecting wired or wireless (wifi)? You need to change the properties of IPv4 for the network adapter you are using. You will need to input a value high enough that it will not be used by dhcp but still recognisable to your router. e.g. if the router has address 192.168.1.1 then use 192.168.1.50 for your PC.
PortForward.com does have guides for setting a static IP HERE.
All you need t do then is set your ports (router -> port forwarding) to the same IP.
To test you need a static ip from your isp or you will have to check what your ipis each time as it may change. you need to test it from outside your own network and need somethig listening on the port to test
i have static ip now.. and applied the method from port forwarding running the test still gives the same result
How did you get the static ip was it issued from your ISP are you testing from outside your network as post 12
What exactly are you forwarding the ports for? What are you trying to accomplish?
