When I bought this computer it came with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 which I have to this day, although one of the very 1st updates it notified me of was IE9. I should mention that although this computer is new to me it was sitting in the companies warehouse for at least a couple years prior. I could be wrong, perhaps it did come with IE9 & I uninstalled it then it notified me of the update since it knew it needed it back. I purchased this computer in July of last year so it's been quite a while for me to remember that far back on exactly what happened. I do know for a fact though that I did role back to IE8 & then had the IE9 update hidden for the longest time until last night when I redownloaded & re-installed it. I know my copy of Windows is legit as well since I did perform the whole verification process immediately after I had MSE installed.

EDIT: I just now noticed that after right clicking on my computer underneath were it says "Service Pack 1" it has a link that says "Get more features with a new version of Windows 7". Should I do this? Is it required for my safety & security? Is it free?

I got a new Compaq note book early last with Win 7, and it had IE 9 as I have tried to explain to you.

If you go for the extra features link in Home Premium, will let you upgrade to either Professional and Ultimate Editions, and yes it will cost you...

Hm well I don't know why mine didn't come with IE9 by default like yours did, any ideas?

I'll just stick with Home Premium then, I don't need an upgrade with extra features because I barely use what I got at the moment.
