    Hello Community!

    Okay, here goes:

I got myself a complete new and godlike PC about 1 year ago.
I've been able to play all my games without any issue like this before.

    Anyway, here's what happened:

I was playing The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, when all of a sudden the game fps dropped significantly making the game unplayable. So I exited the game, and tried another game. This time Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. This game had also become unplayable.

I tried to turn off my PC, waited a bit, and turned it back on. I tried to defragment my drives, ran CCleaner.
Now everything seems to be back to normal.

However, it kind of scared me since I've never experienced this before.

I've read about issues like this on the web. Some say it could be do to overheating, others that it could be due to lack of harddisk space and RAM (?) or that a program could be installing an immense update...

There is no way this could be due to lack of harddisk space since I have 1,76 TB free on (E:) (the drive i install all my games on). And 19,9 GB free on (C:).

I have 12 GB of RAM, so I'm having a hard time understanding why that would be the issue here.

But about the overheating, how can I check to see if anything got overheated?

Also, it might be worth mentioning that my graphics driver is up-to-date.

If there is any info or details I should provide in this thread. Please let me know what and how.

    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. Its hard to say but what sort of speed etc is your internet I am assuming the games use the net and thats what you are referring to. It could just be traffic on your isp network

I did not read the entire post. But if the drop is frequent, then usually this is caused by intensive scheduled tasks being executed while the game is running.
Also give us more information about your machine, CPU, Graphics etc.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Skyrim is not an online game. My internet speed is 20 MB Download and 2 MB Upload.

The drop has never been frequent. It only recently started happening.

    Here is some system specs:

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU x990 @ 3.47GHZ 3.46GHZ
    RAM: 12 GB
    System type: 64-bit
