I was formatting a working sd card in a camera (using Windows Vista), but had to cancel the format.
Not a problem I though, as I'd do it from the start later. However, the card is not not recognised, so that Windows no longer see the card as a drive. As a result I can't select it and format it.

The card would still be working if only I could find a way to select it for formatting. Any suggestions how I can get around this problem?

the camera has a format option but it does recognise the card (Im guessing because its unformatted), so it wont format it. Dont have a phone to put the card in to.

As the card itself is not faulty, surely there should be a way to format it?

It was the default fat32. Before I caused this problem, when I plugged the camera in (usb), windows would detect the device and show an extra drive (with the photos/videos on it). I would then be able to use the files, format the card or whatever. I had to stop a format half way through as I was on call and got paged. So now the card is in limbo, and is in effect unformatted. When I plug the camera in now, windows does not pick up a new drive. The camera itself wont format the card as it doesnt even think it has one in it. Catch 22!
Sorry, I dont understand what you mean by 'diskmanager', ( please forgive my lake of Windows knowledge). I normally right click on 'start' , then select 'explore' to see the card as a drive.

Well, I'm not 100% sure of what Im looking at, but having gone into Computer Management - then Disk Management (under Storeage), I have two volumes listed...
The 2nd one down is listed as c: 136gb
The top on has no volume name, and is listed as having no 'file system' , 13gb (the card is a 16, so thats close), 100% free space.
So Im guessing that one is the sd card (?). It also shows a stutus of 'Healthy'

Actually, I've just done that whole thing again with the camera disconnected, and I still have that 13gb volume, so it cant be the memory card.
