    Hi all,

Am a complete newbie to this forum and surprisingly the first time I've come across it. I ain't an expert with PC's but have built up a fair knowledge of the fundamentals through a friend of mine who convince me to build my own rather then buy one as standard. I must admit in doing so I got a hell lot more for my money and it was also quite fun ordering all the parts and learning to put it all togeather.

The first I built was fairly fast and high spec for its time, but I think I went more for aesthetics rather then power and speed. But last year I built another. I work alot in rendering and use a few Autodesk products alot as I just graduated and begun to work in the architectural design industry. So I needed something that would be up to the task.. So the following is what i put togeather

Feel free to rate, criticise or comment..

    OS : Windows 7 Proffesional 64-Bit
Chassis : Coolermaster - Cosmos Pure (Full Tower)
CPU : Intel i7-965 (Nehalem) Quad Core Processor Extreme Edition - 3.20GHz
Motherboard : ASUS P6X58D PREMIUM Intel X58 LGA 1366 ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU Cooling : Cooler Master V8
    RAM : 12GB
    2 x Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9(9-9-9-24) 1.65V
    HDD : 2.5TB :
    1 x Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB (OS)
    2 x Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB
    GFX Card :Nvidia Quadro FX4800 1.5GB GDDR3
Power Supply : Corsair 850W HX Modular Power Supply - 80plus Silver Certified Efficiency
    CD-ROM : LG GH22NS50 22x DVD±RW DL & Ram SATA Black
    Monitor : ASUS VW246H 24" TFT Monitor 1920x1080

In order to keep the price down, I acquired from many different sources. Weeks of price research etc. But for all you PC builders, the more you look you will find, for the exotic components such as the GFX, I kept a lookout on ebay for about 2 months. Persistence and patience is key! All parts were acquired brand new and genuwine.

I look forward to reading some replies!

    Happy building to you all!

Hi Wolfeymole, the total cost came to around £2000 GBP. which is a bargain considering some of the prices I was seeing for Alienware and other computers at similiar specs.

The GFX card retails at £1580 GBP alone at ebuyer.com.
Overall it is still alot of money to invest in a computer but for what it is capable of handling it is worth every penny.

This is ultra-uber-impressive build. Looks like it can handle just about anything.
