recently, I have run into an aggravating problem on my laptop pc. The images, all of them, on the internet, the desktop, my saved images, even videos, look very, very low quality. Kind of like a low quality youtube video. The images, specifically any with large areas of black, are full of these sort of pixely blocks.

This is a recent thing, and I don't know whats causing it. I've run virus scans but found nothing. I've tried to find files created or modified around the time this occurred, but also to no avail.

    Hi rm2kking,

    Welcome to PCHF.

Could you please post the specs for your laptop? The first thing I would suggest would be to reinstall your video card drivers.

Sorry, I have been busy. I don't know what you mean by specs, really. Also, as an update, I've noticed that the graphics only go down in quality after about 3 minutes of my computer starting up. Not only that, but the problem only exists on my account, not on the other one on my laptop.

We're looking for the System Specs (System Specifications) of your system.

Since this issue only exists on your profile, have you considered creating a new profile account and moving your data over?

Interesting that it's only happening in one account. Could you download and run HijackThis? There's a link to it in my signature at the bottom of this post. Let's see what you have running and see if there's anything that might cause this. Once you have the log it creates copy and past it in to a post.

Let's try disabling a bunch of stuff out of your startup and see if we can track down the cause. You have a ton of stuff in there and a lot of it is unneeded anyway. There's a couple of ways to do this, one is to click start and in the search bar type in msconfig and then go to the startup tab, and the other is if you have Ccleaner go to tools and then click on startup. Personally I find the Ccleaner option much easier to see and do so if you have it use it and if you don't then there's a link to it in my signature at the bottom of this post. If your experienced with msconfig though you can still use it, it's your choice. Uncheck (msconfig) or right click and click disable (Ccleaner) the following:

    HKLM\..\Run: [Camera Assistant Software] "C:\Program Files\Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\traybar.exe" /start

    HKLM\..\Run: [00TCrdMain] %ProgramFiles%\TOSHIBA\FlashCards\TCrdMain.exe

    HKLM\..\Run: [SmoothView] %ProgramFiles%\Toshiba\SmoothView\SmoothView.exe

    HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe"
-atboottime (just disable this permanently even after the test it is unneeded)

    HKCU\..\Run: [TOSCDSPD] TOSCDSPD.EXE

HKCU\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools Lite] "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\daemon.exe" -autorun (Daemon tools can cause all kinds of issues, including BSOD's, it's recommended that you completely uninstall it and install MagicDisk instead)

HKCU\..\Run: [Skype] "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /nosplash /minimized (Skype causes all kinds of problems too in my experience. I can understand if you want to keep it, but just for this test disable it from startup)

    Startup: OpenOffice.org 3.1.lnk = C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\program\quickstart.exe

Once you have them all disabled reboot and see if the problem still exists. If it doesn't then you can go back and re-enable them one or two at a time until it begins again and that will let you know which one is causing it. Or, you can just leave them disabled as none of them need to be in the startup anyway.

One more thing, if you follow my advice and remove Daemon tools you will also need a second uninstaller that removes SPTD.sys, which is the main cause of BSOD's with it. Unfortunately even if you uninstall it it will still leave this file. You can get the uninstaller from here. - DuplexSecure - Downloads

I disabled everything you suggested, but the problem still persists. Still, about 3 min after I boot up, the graphical quality suddenly drops.
