After I was recently reinstalling antivirus, something went wrong there and at some point cursor stopped on the screen without moving. Neither touchpad nor mouse were working. I tried to restart the laptop few times.. but result was the same - keyboard worked, but touchpad and mouse not. Though I am not an expert in using only keyboard I just managed to open control panel -> devices (where i can see attention marks in front of pointing device (I guess its touchpad) and mouse. The problem is with only keyboard working i dont know how to point on them to restart drivers for them or anything like that. The problem might sound stupid, but I am really begging for help or any advice as I am currently abroad and cannot bring my laptop to any service.
Welcome to PCHF Start your PC in Windows safe mode and use a recent system restore point. This will return your PC to the "pre antivirus install" state and should resolve the missing driver issue.
Hi AlexPL, My Name is Diana and i work as a Dell Social Media Responder. As suggested by Hengis you can try doing system Restore however you can also try the below step to get the touchpad and the mouse working, --Please connect an external mouse and uninstall the touchpad drivers from Device Manager and Programs and Features( Click on start--Device manager--Mouse and Pointing device and uninstall the touchpad drivers).Restart the system and go to the manufacturer's website and install the touchpad drivers and check . Kindly reply with the results. Thanks and Regards, DELL_Diana_M Social Media Responder
