Currently, I have 2 external storage hard drives (1TB and 640MB) my system hard drive (640MB) and an internal storage hard drive (1TB). I bought a new internal storage hard drive (1TB) and it's installed. But while it now shows up, the other internal storage hard drive vanished. How do I get them both to show up? I have Windows Vista as my OS.

Go into control panel admin tools computer management then disk management do the drive show up in there ok? They may show up but are not assigned a drive letter you can right click on them and assign a letter

I have no idea what's going on. It seems that the one drive I had almost completely full with stuff is gone. The drive is blank. And there's another drive that shows as "unallocated". I'm about to cry over here. It took me 2 YEARS to fill that drive if the data can't be recovered When I initially installed the drive, I ran the disc that came with it. It detected a blank drive and formatted it with NTFS file system. I named it "STORAGE D (1 Terabyte)", but it has the drive letter of the drive that vanished.

    Here's How:

    1. Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard. It may be labeled [PrtScn].
    2. Open an image editing program, such as Microsoft Paint.
    3. Go to the Edit menu and choose Paste.
    4. If prompted to enlarge the image, choose Yes.
    5. Optional: Use your image editor's crop tool to crop out unnecessary portions of the screen shot.
    6. Go to the File Menu and choose Save As.
    7. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the image.
    8. Type a file name for the image.

The picture is to low resolution for me to see clearly. Bit confused it show 4 drives 1,2,8,9 I assume 2 is the problem as its showing up as blank?. When you put the drive in did you format it etc and should there be anything on it?

Are they all sata HD. If you remove all the other drives except the new one and system what shows up then? I wonder if you have connected one to a raid controller by mistake?

I don't suppose you know someplace where I can upload the screenshot that won't resize it? I tried photobucket AND my MySpace account. Both resized it.

I'm beginning to think the program formatted the wrong drive. I was very careful to read it and it said the drive was blank, which is why I chose to format it. I really don't know how it formatted the wrong drive.

Man, it's gonna take me over a year to get everything back again. All of it was downloaded. Unless there's a way to recover it, it's gone forever.

There's actually 5 drives. The one not shown is the system hard drive that holds the OS and a second partition on that drive that holds the system restore information. The top two drives listed are the internal drives. The bottom two are external drives connected via USB. The top two drives (internal ones) are both SATA drives.
