Lately my computer has been turning off randomly far more frequently. It has been happening for a while but not in this level of frequency till the past few days. I test the power sockets after unplugging my PC from them and they power other things such as my speakers or my monitor....but the PC won't start. Occasionally I will start it and half way in the boot process it will shut off again. However...this is never permanent as it will eventually work again. I bought another PSU just in case...but I'm just trying to gain opinions on this issue or if anyone has had a similar problem.

    Specs:
    890FXA GD65

    1100t 3.3 ghz

    8 gbs ram

    7970 3gb ram

    Corsair 700 PSU gaming edition

CPU overheating is a more common cause of the reported phenomenon. Also, check the motherboard for signs of capacitor pops.

A faulty power supply can also cause the same problems, so stress the machine while the power supply is still subject to the seller's return policy.

I had a system doing the same thing earlier this year. It was the power supply.
