I want to replace the graphics card in an eMachines T6524. The computer seems to be trying to boot, but I have no display and assume the integrated graphics chip has failed. I have an ATI Radeon X600 SE 138 MB PCIe DVI Video card that I would like to use. Is it compatible with the T6524?
In order to replace the on-board VGA card [ATI Radeon® Xpress 200 (PCI-Express®)], I need to go into the bios ad disable the on-board chip and enable the PCI VGA card.
How can I do this with no video. Catch 22?
    Toxey.

Hello and Welcome to PCHF, Toxey...

You just need to remove the existing card if any, plug in your new one and attach the video cable to it. Go into the BIOS, disable on-board video, and boot up into Windows.

Install the necessary drivers and you are good to go.

I still have the problem. I have verified the pin function compatibility of the X600 Video Card with the PCIe connector on my 7284 Vi.0 mother board.

The fan comes on, but no video. No helpful beeps. Any more Ideas?

What is your PSU rating? You may want to test with a higher rated one. Also check if the card requires any additional power plugs.

The existing PSU is 300 W rated.
I am ordering a 400 Watt supply with PCIe support. However I find no connectiors on the Video Card except the 2 I/O connectors on the flange. Should there be one on the mother board.

Not all cards require a power connector, if you can't see any then its fine.

I had to return the 400 W. supply. It turned out to be sized for microAT
x but I need full ATX.

Meanwhile, I have verified that the existing 300 W. supply works in another computer, at least within its specified power range.

I put the eMachines T6524 back together and disconnected al the drives to see if I could get video during POST. I first tried the ATI Radeon SE, 128 MB PCIe Card (X-600) - no video. Then I tried a an ATI Radeon 7000 Diamond 64 MB PCI DVI VGAcard. Still no video. Both cards were bought from EBAY, but odds imply that at least half of them should work.

While my labor rate os pretty low, I am inclined to think that an old eMachiness PC doesn't justify much expense on parts. Any hope?

I'm terribly sorry there has been no progress here, toxey hall. Have you made any decisions on how you might proceed?
