Hi guys, this is my first post so apologises if I've gate crashed.
I have a DELL Dimension E520 and has recently refused to boot up. I can hear the fan but nothing else, no lights on the keyboard either. The fan was full throttle for a few days but never booted. I opened the side and removed ram, hd etc but nothing. There is a yellow light lit on the mobo but I'm unsure what that is. Ive searched the net and people have said it could be The or graphics card? I then came across this site and by the looks of things many problems get solved.
    Please help.
    George

Hello Geepieri and welcome to the PCHF..

Does your Dell make any beeping sounds? If so how many beeps do you get? Does your Dell have the diagnostic lights in the back in or around your port panel? If so what are the color of the lights?

    Hi Geepieri,
My name is Saurabh and I work for the Social Media & Community Team at Dell.

Kindly click this link to check the status of diagnostic light indicators and beep codes in your computer:

Hi guys thanks for the response, when I try to boot the computer, there are NO Beeps and the 1,3 and 4th light remain on. I couldn't find anything on the link that you sent Saurabh that would give a solution as I'm not too sure what I'm looking for. I do have the STBYLED lit on the MOBO at all times. Any more ideas?

Hi I tried staring the PC and as nothing comes on the monitor I'm unable to press f12. I have noticed that no lights come on on the keyboard and the 1,3 and 4 lights are now green. Any ideas. Thank you for time.

Well the amber lights usually means a hardware issue is causing the problem. From this end it could be a bad capacitor or a bad PSU,MOBO,graphics, etc has gone bad..

Hi again, I tried removing and alternating the memory and changing the mobo battery but still got green 1,3,4 lights and no keyboard or monitor lights. I then removed the graphics card and it beeped 2 times, the number lock and cap lock light worked on the keyboard and the 1,2,3 green lights at the front lit up. Any ideas, someone told
me the HD might be gone, could this be it?

I can't as nothing appears on the monitor when I boot it. Not even the Dell logo.
