Hey everyone. I've ran into a problem that I can't quite figure out. My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC. Some troubleshooting things I have tried. -Power cycled my modem, router and PC. -Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity) -Used the reset option on the router and the modem -I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct. -Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server' -Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working All of these options did not work. What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows 169.254.112.76 which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure. I'd be glad to provide any more information needed and I am open to all suggestions. I am pretty tech savvy so any advice I will try. Thanks everyone.

Thank you for your quick response. Here are the logs you asked for. This is how my setup usually is, with the modem plugged into the wireless router and wireless router broadcast a signal along with being hardwired to the computer that this log was created. I really appreciate your time and step by step guide to help me. However for some reason I still have the same problem, I still get the error 'No Internet Access' with this PC. I did all of your steps without an error message or any problems. Should I try these suggestions with the ethernet cord plugged directly into my PC from my IPS modem? Would another log of the MTB and FSS be useful for you? I went ahead and ran another log for both, they are in the attachments. I am still baffled by this problem and not sure what else to do. I really do appreciate your help, this has been the most detailed, easy to understand troubleshooting guide I have ever witnessed and I thank you.
Try opening your device manager and uninstalling your ethernet connection driver and rebooting this is the one below. Intel(R) 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection To open your device manager hit the start button then type device manager and hit enter, and under network adapters you will find the above driver right click and select uninstall then reboot your machine. If that does not work then see below. Open Elevated Command Prompt Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. Now type or copy and paste the commands below one at a time hitting enter after each. ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew net stop "dns client" net start "dns client" netsh int ip reset reset.log netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log netsh winsock reset catalog Exit Now Reboot your machine and Continue Below. Open your device manager hit the start button then right click on computer then select properties then select device manager. In device manager, click the View menu and select Show hidden devices Then hit view again and select devices by connection. . Then scroll down right click and uninstall the drivers listed below, dont worry these will be reinstalled upon reboot by windows. Ancilliary Function Driver for Winsock Net BT Http Net Io Legacy Support Driver Tcp/ip Protical Driver Tcp/ip Registry Compatibility NSI proxy Service Each of these files will request a reboot after uninstall wait until the last one to reboot. Then Check your connection.
Quick question before I try these steps. Won't I need an internet connection to reinstall the drivers upon rebooting? I realized it would have no affect and went forth with your guide. I went through all of the steps and uninstalled the drivers you asked and I still have the same problem. Still says 'No Internet Access' When I ran through the command prompt I got a couple errors when I /released and /renewed so I attached the log so you could take a look. Thanks again for all of your help, I feel like we are close to getting this problem resolved.
Download the file below and save it to the desktop of the machine in question then unzip it there, then right click and select merge then reboot the machine and check the connection. http://www.blackviper.com/downloads...ault_W7_Ultimate_64_SP1_Start_v100.zip?7501a5
Have you tried safemode with networking? Have you tried to set your router back to factory settings? Also have you tried to unplug your modem and wait 15 seconds then power back up? Can you tell me the exact make and model of the machine we are dealing with. Have you check to make sure that the wireless is turned on? http://forums.speedguide.net/showth...turn-on-off-Wireless-in-various-Laptop-Models Lastly can I see the following log. Also please Download UnknownDeviceIdentifierand post the log it Creates in your next reply. Run the program allow it to finish then hit file> save > Save the file to desktop. The default file name will be DeviceList Attach Device list in your next reply.
Tried the registry merger and it did not work. Yes I have tried safemode with networking, no luck. Yes I have set my router settings back to factory. Yes I have unplugged my modem and waited 15 seconds then powered it back up. Yes I have tried the wireless connection as well for this PC with no luck. I am dealing with a Gateway DX4820 and a NetGear WNR3500L router. I attached the log that you asked for. As a side note that I am also working on. Quick question should the wireless router, if set up properly, be able to broadcast a wireless internet connection to any device regardless of being hard wired into a computer? So realistically I should still have internet access wirelessly through my router even though my PC seems to be the main problem connecting to the internet? One thing I did notice and I have been working on, is that after I did some of the troubleshooting tips that you suggested I am now able to go through the setup wizard through my wireless router Netgear setup page. But I am hung up on the second option when I states that I have a static IP address, which I know I do not. My ISP only provides dynamic IP address to homes. I went through the setup page and clicked on the Use dymnamic IP address but I still can not get Internet Access. I have tried MAC spoofing along with router and my ISP modem resets to see if it will recognize it as a dynamic IP address again but it does not work. The router page also tells me that it does not have access to the internet in order to update the firmware. So I don't believe I can resetup my router without the internet access.
