Recently got a PC with the following specs.
600w power supply
320gb SATA HD
Asrock n68 vs3
AMD x2 250 3.0ghz
4GB ram ddr3 Dual Channel
Geforce gt430 1gb ddr3

Its working fine and i'm able to play tons of HD games, but when i play Battlefield 3, after 30 mins - 1 hour of play it suddenly shuts down.
Checked the heat with Speedfan:
GPU: Max 61 degrees celcius
CPU: Max 59 degrees celcius
Core: Max 47 degrees celcius

Afaik, my pc shouldnt shut down at that temperature.
What can or should i do?

Use either Speccy or CoreTemp (links in my signature) to keep an eye on your temps.

With power disconnected,
remove cover from unit,
use a can of compressed air to blow out all dust bunnies,
as an experiment, leave the cover off.

When you say shutdown, does the power shut off or does the unit simply stop running? Any detailed info here would be helpful.

BUMP, wasnt able to answer this for a long time.
I've completed my PC specs, its a new computer, so it didnt have dust to remove, but i did it anyway.
I was playing Battlefield 3, after 30min - 1hour it just shutted down, stopped working.
Hope you guys can help me out, thanks for aswering.

I'm not a fan of speedfan. Sufficient to monitor your temps is Speccy or CoreTemp. Just check occasionally to see if the temps start to skyrocket.

Your shutdown problem is either temp influenced or, more likely, a piece of software that runs in the background. You may not even be aware that the program is running.

In your case, I more suspect software. To that end:
Install CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
list of STARTUP PROGRAMS
CCleaner | Tools icon | Startup button | Windows tab |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
accept Startup.txt as file name | SAVE button

list of SCHEDULED TASKS
CCleaner | Tools icon | Startup button | Scheduled Tasks tab |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
enter Scheduled Tasks as File name | Save button

List of INSTALLED PROGRAMS
CCleaner | Tools icon | Uninstall button |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
accept install.txt as File name | Save button

UPLOAD the startup.txt file
UPLOAD the Scheduled Tasks.txt file
UPLOAD the install.txt file.

Im using Speccy to check the temps and after playing a while the graphics card reaches 50 - 60 deegrees. (Is that a normal temperature or should i be worried?)
Then i kept playing for like 10 more minutes and it just shutted down again.

I notice that you have torrent software installed. My personal policy is no help to anyone while torrent software is installed. This is not forum policy. The forum only does this when removing malware. The call is, of course, yours.


REMOVAL OF P2P PROGRAMS

There are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

As long as you are using any form of P2P networking to download files, you can anticipate malware infestations.

After your problem is solved, feel free to reinstall/install any programs you desire.

Are you using the free or pay version of Avast?

Go back thru ccleaner to the Task Scheduler and disable all except for Sidebar.

After problem eliminated, then re-enable as desired.

My objective is to eliminate as many variables as possible.

I have paid version of Avast! Antivirus and i wonder, should i disable it too as you told me? How does Avast! affect my problem?
Btw i recently cleaned my PC, removed the dust and i've put new thermal paste but i still have the same issue.

I thought that my graphics card wasnt good enough to run BF3, but a friend recently bought the same VGA and hes able to run BF3 on max settings and his computer doesnt shut down.
Cant discover whats wrong with my PC.

Please download CPUID from this website and please screenshot your computer's temperature while playing any games. This is what I did to fix mine.

Posting the SS with Speccy since CPUID lags the hell out of my computer.

Now im almost sure it isnt a temp issue because at one point i checked Speccy and my temps where
Core:35
Motherboard: 40
VGA: 49
And after a second it shutted down.
Maybe the power supply isnt working right?
