InSync is the name of google's cloud storage.

I just read an article on it and haven't even installed it yet, but you better believe I will be installing InSync before the night is over.

This really looks good and its from a large reputable cloud storage company.

I will be interested in hearing from others who sign up.

    Briefly,
    1 GB Free!
20 GB ($5.00 USD per year)
80 GB ($20.00 USD per year)
200 GB ($50.00 USD per year)
400 GB ($100.00 USD per year)
1 TB ($256.00 USD per year)

So far I find it easier to use than SkyDrive and Live Mesh.
Google Docs is the storage side of the game and InSync the syncing to access easily no matter where you are.

If one is not presently a google docs user, then one should sign in there.

You do not need to use any of google web apps.

You can generate you .docx and .pdf files on one of of your synced computers and upload to "google docs" or Google InSync. Of course, you can also download.

The interface has been improved immensely over what the interface was two years or so ago when I first looked into Google Docs.

Still doesn't appear to be the capability of uploading a folder tree in one easy step, but maybe I'm missing something. You also have a similar problem with skydrive and Live Mesh.

The $5/yr for 20 GB satisfies my meager needs.

I've just scratched the surface of the user interface so I don't consider this to be a complete report.

To say it's Google, okay they can offer upto 1TB, but their free 1GB isn't very generous, not normal for Google tbh.

    I use Ubuntuone (https://www.one.ubuntu.com) and I get 5GB free.

you will hear various things about DropBox.
See the link in post #1 for more info.

See Ed Bott's blog for a person who definitely would never use DropBox due to security issues.

The rates are same for Photo storage on Picasa and Mail storage on GMail. So its 3GB of cloud storage with all these three.

Edit: I don't think Google is associated with this service.

Gmail offers more than 7 GB of free storage for your messages and attachments, and we're adding more space as fast as we can.

    Since I added 20 GB of storage @ $5.00/yr
then my limit is 27.5 GB.

This Insync, isn't associated with Google, it just uses the 1GB provided by Google docs to store stuff that Docs by itself does not support.

    Kedar,

    From Google site

    How Google storage works

Google offers a way to purchase additional storage space shared across Gmail, Google Docs, and Picasa Web Albums (which includes photos uploaded to Blogger)

    Free storage

Free Google storage space is specific to each product. Free storage from one product cannot be used by or transferred to another product.

    • Gmail provides 7+ GB (and counting) for Gmail messages.
    • Docs provides 1 GB for your uploaded files (documents created in Google Docs and converted files don't count towards your storage, but do have some size limitations).
    • Picasa Web provides 1 GB for photos and videos. Files under certain sizes don't count towards this limit. This limit applies to photos uploaded to Picasa Web Albums and photos uploaded at original size to Google+ from the Picasa 3.9 software.
    • Google+ provides unlimited storage for photos uploaded in Google+, which are automatically resized to 2048 pixels. Videos up to 15 minutes in length are also free.

    Paid storage

If you run out of free storage for Gmail, Google Docs, or Picasa Web, you can purchase additional storage that is shared across these products. Choose from the following storage plans

    • 20 GB - $5/yr
    • 80 GB - $20/yr
    • 200 GB - $50/yr
    • 400 GB - $100/yr
    • 1 TB - $256/yr
    • 2 TB - $512/yr
    • 4 TB - $1024/yr
    • 8 TB - $2048/yr
    • 16 TB - $4096/yr

    Kedar,
    With or without InSync,
Google Docs supports non google docs formats.

    This was not always true.
