    Netgear WGR614 Range Booster

Hello people. I use this router, is it possible for me to install or use some kind of a signal booster on it? My second floor has very weak signal strength. Any suggestion to me?? Thank you all for your help!!

To answer your question ilyabyk83, Yes. There are several brands of range extenders out there. There are also addon antennas to help boost range. There are things you can do to alleviate your problem without spending hard earned money. Since you are having weak reception on the second floor put the router as near the ceiling as possible. Like on the top of a bookcase. You may also be able to boost the transmit power of your router. Check your manual. If you do purchase a range extender make sure it is compatible with your Netgear model.

Yes, you can take the antenna out. But that would be the end of it!! I already destroyed one router. So I went to a store and bought the exact same thing and returned the broken one. So NO, antenna doesn't come out on it, unless I did it wrong!! But the little antenna has a little wire on the inside, and you can only pull the antenna out by ripping that wire off to whatever it's attached inside. Again, unless you tried it out on this particular model and can tell me how to do it safely and what to buy and how to install. Thank you for your help!!

Since the Netgear's antenna does not detatch then a range extender is the other option. The ones I've seen plug into one of the lan ports on your router. Setup should be straight forward. They are a bit pricey. To get an idea of what I am talking about look at this web site

Thanx for your help!! But this page offers 7 different items; I don’t know which one I need. Can you please tell me what the exact product I need please, is? After I'll Google for this type of a product and see what I will find. The antenna doesn't come off on this router, plugging in to one of four ports is the only option. Can you do me a huge favor? Can Google the product, and "copy & paste" me the link with the results? So at least I get an idea of what are my options are.

Firstly please do not raise your tone on a thread, thankyou.

Note this is free computer help and being impatient and shouting does not help.If a fix or answers are not forth coming it is proberly as we are either in work were forum is not allowed.Or at home doing our usal chores or out of the house doing other things.Free time is spent on this forum plus diffrent time zones makes some times help and posting a little difficult.

Your antenna should unscrew from your wireless router if it dont then you cannot use this product.

All you had to do on the link posted was click on support and it tells you how to fit it.

As I said earlier if it is not removable then you cannot use a booster of that kind.

I belive you are correct on the none removable antenna.
