    Hi,

My monitor goes into Power Saving Mode when I start my computer and I cannot get out of it. I know the monitor isn't the issue since it works on my brother's PC and I have tried using his monitor but with same result. The rest of the PC seems fine since I can hear Windows logging me in and I get responses when I press the keyboard, I just can't see anything.

When I open up the computer and have a quick look everything seems to be in order and running fine (fans, hard-drives etc).

For obvious reasons I can't really check my exact specs but here's what I remember:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    2,8 Ghz Intel Dual Core
    2 GB RAM
    Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT

    Someone please help me! :(

Hello Jackpot and welcome to the PCHF...

Go into your control panel and under your power options/settings check your monitor settings...

    Hi, thanks for replying, vger!

I can't access the control panel since the monitor goes into Power Saving Mode at start-up.

Ok for some reason i was thinking the monitor came out of that mode. Can you manually start your monitor?

No, once I turn on the monitor it immediately enters Power Saving Mode. I can't seem to interact with any monitor settings either while it's in this mode. Usually when the PC decides to go into Power Saving Mode (at times were it should that is, not on boot-up) I press a random key and it wakes up again, but not in this case for some reason.

Have you tried to access the bios from start up to see if it will let you into that.

    i have this exact problem.

it seems that no usb port, keyword, mouse of monitor responds or is getting power.

for example i press enter or num lock and nothing happens.

all i get on boot up is a blank screen and power saving mode.

i changed monitors that was the same.

tried the two monitors on another pc and both worked perfectly.

tried different power sockets, cables etc and all work on other pc's just not on this one.

i have reset the memory, took out and placed the bios back.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

If its the same as mine you have a blank screen but the computer sounds as though it powers up.

i have all the fans and other things going so the power seems ok however, the keyboard doesn't respond and the power saving mode stays on the pc as the mouse or keyboard doesn't work.

@ Monkeymagic: Yes, no matter what I do I cannot get the monitor to wake up.

@ oilydoyley: Our problem isn't the same though, my keyboard does respond and I can do everything I usually can except that the screen is in Power Saving Mode and I cannot see anything of what I'm doing.

    Hey Jackpot

Not sure of this solution, but since you haven't fixed it yet, why not try it.

Do you have a cable to plug your PC to a TV? If you do, plug it into your TV and see if the TV goes into powersave mode. or try using another monitor.

If you can hear windows log on then it's probably your video card. The first thing I would try would be to remove and reinsert it in case it just came loose. If that doesn't fix it it's probably bad. Do you have onboard video to see if connecting it to that works?

@ Tovagulet: I don't own a TV cable, never used one either. I did try to use another monitor though but with the same results.

@ Xeno1: I do have a onboard video card that I tried to connect it to but with the same results. Do I need to remove the graphics card to use the onboard one by the way? I need to get some special screwdriver to remove the graphic card completely.
