I just got a new laptop and I ran PCdecrapifier on it first thing. I got rid of a couple programs I later decided I wanted to keep so I had to revert back to the very first system restore I made. I had already installed a bunch of programs and done a bunch of setting changes, but I lost all of that of course. So I did it all over again. Installed the programs changed some settings, but ever since I did the system restore, I seem to be missing the icon images for a few of my applications. Do I need to reinstall these programs or can I just download the missing files somewhere?

EDIT: Well I uninstalled and reinstalled one of the programs and it didn't fix the problem. The programs are Revo Uninstaller, Firefox, auslogics defrag, and Malwarebytes anti-malware

See if you can extract the icon from the .exe file.

I'm assuming that there is no icon when you right click the shortcut and select properties and change icon.

I tried changing them through properties and nothing happened. sometimes it would tell me I needed to provide admin premission to do this and sometimes it wouldn't. But the icon images are still missing. What do I do with the files I get from the batch extractor?

From the properties/change icon window you browse to the folder and select the .ico file that you want and click on apply.

oh, the icons were already in the window for change icon but it didn't work. They still dont have icon images.

When I open the properties it shows the icon and when I have the program open it shows the icon correctly at the bottom. but when the application isn't open the pinned icons have the missing icon image.

I fixed it now. I had to actually change the icon image. there were two images that I could choose from that was the correct image and I selected the one hadn't chosen yet and that worked. Thanks for the help.
