hi, right ill start from the begining.. my laptop hard drive broke, i bought a new one. ive installed vista home 32bit, ive got everthing working apart from the webcam. i have used windows update, nothing there, i have tried medion website, there is a driver there but its not doing anything, ive tried driver detective, that dosnt find it.. can someone please help....

the laptop is a medion p7610

Install the medion webcam driver medion service and support , then run it from control panel then scanners and cameras.

hi, thats the same driver i have allready tried. it does not work. none of the medion drivers from there site work, even the graphics card. i had to use driver genius pro to get the graphics drivers and all the rest. but its just this webcam that it couldnt find drivers for....

i tried driver agent on friday, that didnt find the webcam, ill try that other one now

ive just tried mes drivers, i installed it, but it wouldnt do anything, so no idea how to use that. im thinking it might be the webcam, im going to install windows 7, to see if windows 7 picks up the drivers, if not i think im goning to have to buy a new one.

After installing it. Open the website and run the autodetection and then Copy past the result I will tell you if it detects the webcam

i have installed windows 7, to try and see if that would help. its just the same. also 2 of the 4 usbs do not work, i have allready phoned medion, they told me that as i bought the computer 2nd hand they cant help me, and that the drivers on there website will work.. anyway i have pasted the results below. i have used driver gennius pro 2010 to find the drivers, but like i said no webcam.. and also 2 usb's dont work

It seems not to detect your Webcam. Please leave the medion webcam device installed, don't remove it. You have some update to install (marked in red). Please don't install them from the below list and run the autodetection of:

1. Intel® Driver Update Utility
2. Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products
3. Try to find the last update for Ralink wireless Ralink corp.

Download SIW portable version and run it perhaps it would detect your webcam

the latest drivers are not allways the best. and do not allways work. this windows 7 isnt staying on, im going to be putting vista back on eventually, alls i want to know is why the webcam does not work, and neither do 2 usb's.. is it the motherboard or cam? (nothing picks it up like i said) or is it just drivers?

Sorry for making you waiting for the answer. It's a matter of time difference.
So I understand that you didn't install the update intentionally because they does not work! I would suggest you install them anyway with Windows 7!
I see also you are impatient to resolve the problem so I am explaining what I am trying to do.
The first cause to think about in your case is a webcam device or software dysfunction: not compatible, not correct, missing, not well installed...
To find the right one, we could use the Drivers CD coming with PC, the medion website, some trusted autodetection software or websites.
As these steps didn't resolve your problem, we are trying to find a similar medion webcam device. And to do that one solution is to know what is the name of your webcam

1. Download SIW portable version. It's a System information software. Run it perhaps it would detect your webcam and tell us what webcams does Medion install on their PC.
2. click the Start menu and open the Control Panel. Double-click "Add/Remove Hardware" and verify that your internal camera is listed
3. Right click on computer > Properties > Device Manager : Check to see if there is a yellow exclamation point, and look for any error code in the properties. Look for your webcam device, rightclick, and select Update Driver Software then follow the instruction. Try an install from CD or auto update. If that does not work, uninstall the webcam device and restart PC so that windows install generic devices.
4. A webcam is an input device, like a scanner, and does not do anything by itself. To test or use the webcam, you must use a video recording or instant messaging program: Windows live messenger, Aol instant messenger, yahoo messenger, skype, youcam...
5. Install or update Java, DirectX and Flash player.

nothing comes up in device manager, nothing comes up in scanners, its not that im impatient its the fact im selling it, its now on ebay. listed as faulty. its been tested evey single way you can think of. i have taken it apart to look at it, all the cables are correct. and the fact that 2 usb ports do not work aswell is making me think its the chipset drivers. or motherboard. i repair computers for a living. so i know what im doing. its just the fact that none of medion drivers work from there site. and theres nothing on the net for them at all. its not like a hp where there everywhere.... its a shame really as its got a 640GB hard drive, blu ray.. but thanks for your help anyway..
