Hmm, all of that is still in there. I rewrote it a little bit. This time though reboot in to safe mode and open regedit. Go to file and then import and import it in instead of doing the merge.

Alright, I rebooted into safemode and imported ARCAD18RemoveZerg2 and it said it was succeseful and everything but it is still being detected as an Acer monitor and will not let me go higher than 1280x1024. here is the new display file in case you need it.

Let's try one more thing, export that key one more time, but this time instead of changing it to .txt in the save as file type leave it as .reg. Once the file is saved then change the file extension to .txt. Maybe there's something missing in the straight to .txt version.

That's better, thanks. I have an idea for something that's going to take some time to work out. Unfortunately I have to get ready for work, so give me until tomorrow to write it for you.

Allrighty then. Hopefully this one will work, but not promising anything. With this one it's still going to think the monitor is an Acer monitor, but if it works it will trick it in to using the Generic PnP Driver which works fine with the 22w3 and should give you the 1680x1050 resolution.

If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas as far as writing registry files. I did do some looking though and a lot of people have solved this issue by switching to DVI instead of VGA. Are you using a second monitor on your DVI already? If not it may be worth a try.

When I try to import/merge it gives me the error, "Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes." I booted into safemode to try and import/merge it there and it gave me the error, "error accessing the registry." I attached my current display key, do not know if you want to use it anymore.

I may know why that happened. Try this one and see if it works. If it doesn't open device manager and then go to monitors and right click on it and click uninstall and run it again.

Did you try uninstalling the monitor in device manager and see if it would run then?

OK, try this one. Hopefully it won't do that, it shouldn't anyway.

I'm out of ideas at the moment. I have to go to work but I'll see if I can think of something different to try and get back to you tomorrow.
