I'm looking at buying a new HP but can't figure out if it is better to get an i-7 quad core or an AMD six core. For around 3.0 ghz, the intel chip is a bit more expensive but has 2 less cores. I will be using this machine for video editing. Ultimately it probably doesn't matter and is worth getting the AMD X6 and spending the savings on more ram, better graphics card and more storage.

Definitely go with the AMD for video editing. What version are you getting the 1055T or 1090T?

I should specify more though. Video editing is very demanding on the cpu so having more cores is very useful... however it also depends on the software that you use too. If the software will not use all six cores then it would be pointless to get one. That being said most software and future software are accounting for multiple cores. So just check to see if there is a limit on the cores to what program you will be using.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I am looking at the 1090T and will likely go with it.

I really like the X6 processors... If I do a new build it would be the route I go. Let me know if there is anything else you need... if not I will mark this solved.

    Best of Luck
