IDM, I mean Internet Download Manager. If I download a file with IDM, and IDM returns with a status - "Complete". Can I ensure that the file is flawless from the original one? As I said before, I once unintentionally unplugged the LAN wire when the file downloaded came to 99.8% or 99.9% (never complete, with Chrome), then I found that the file was a very very little bit smaller than the original one but the biggest problem was that Chrome stated that it was complete. (This can be a problem if user needs a perfect file) This made me give up downloading things using browsers. I am now asking this question because I had a few seconds of physical disconnection from the internet when I was downloading something half way before it was complete (using IDM). However, that few seconds didn't seem to affect the download and the download continued when the internet reconnected. I am not sure if that a few seconds will make the downloaded files imperfect from the original. (Resume capability of that server is NO)
In theory the download is checked and it only asks for the next part of the file if the bit its got is correct. A pause is not normally a problem as it expects this with network traffic
hello, in other words, if IDM says the file is "complete", can it be 100% guaranteed to be flawless from the original one saved in the remote server?
Not 100% say 99% this assumes that the file was correct on the upload as this is often were the errors come from as upload is so much slower and more prone to errors
If not to concern about the possible error by the upload side? Actually the files I am interested in are from big and professional websites, errors from their side can be neglected and out of the scope I can control, however. I just want to know if IDM says "complete" , will it mean that my files are flawless from "the one stored on the remote server" Thank you
what is the download? Some downloads have a checksum value associated with it which the installer would check.
Hi, when I "play with" my LAN cable, MSN / ICQ / Yahoo Messenger etc may go "offline" immediately (and then attempts to reconnect), I think it is because there is an Instantaneous disconnection from the internet. But IDM downloading windows don't stop or return with any error message, it just goes on as usual. I doubt if they are really downloading correctly at that moment. What do you think?
Assume that no error caused when uploaded by the webmaster, if I use IDM to download something and IDM status shows the files ""Complete"". Can it ensure that the files are "Identical" to the one stored on the server.
