Hello my touchpad mouse is not responding at all within any part of windows on my hp and i have been using keyboard commands to get around trying to fix this. but ah i found it strange that it worked on the hp bootup screen there perfectly fine but when i got into windows thats when there was nothing, so i assumed it was a software problem, but then i dont know if its hardware because on the tochpad i get no blue or orange lifght no clicks nothing. so this is what i tried with by thinking it was software and nothing has worked and i rang hp, they have said to reformat but thats my last option consedering my last backup was a while ago :BangHead: and i have just bought kaspersky which is when this mess happened. ok i have performed these things Fn + F10 and also Fn + Spacebar - nothing Baterry removal and hold the on/off for 5 seconds and place back in for coms reset - nothing I have tried reguarl reset in addition to the battery one Tried updating the drivers - no luck Then tried removing them , reset and they were back but still not working with the yellow sign on them Tried a bios reset also tried this which i read on a post somewhere All Programs -> accessorys -> Command a prompt (run as admin) -> (type) sfc /scannow -> then reset and nothing i also tried my wireless mouse didnt work (and short of searching my house top to bottom i dont have a corded one anymore to try) now i ah dont know what else to do and after reseting bios i also lost the hp bootup screen and had one tiny bit of mouse movment before it stuffed up again pleasse help or i may end up taking a sledhammer to it lol
Hello Courtzz12 and Welcome to PCHF When your Notebook tarts, press ESC, and then on the menu select F2 System Diagnostics This will open a new screen where -normally- the Touse/TouchPad are functional. Is it also the case with your system? Another way to make sure there is no software causing all this, is to press F11 when your system starts, and then select Advanced Recovery into Factory Settings, WITHOUT preserving your Documents and Settings (make sure you have made a backup)
I have done the esc F2 boot and yes the touchpad is completely functional here. ill Have to hunt down my portable hdrive to do this one before going ahead with this haha, does it mean anything with the touchpad fully functioning in the system diagnostics?
courtzz, I'm not saying Kaspersky is guilty this time, but such would not be the first time. Can you 100% uninstall Kaspersky and see if the problem is gone?
Haha damn kaspersky just after i brought the liscence for it to >.< yes i can 100% uninstall it i just hadnt because i spent money on it but i suppose its worth a shot
I believe this link will help you out.Perhaps there are too many things starting up on your system. Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program You may need to do this from safemode. Getting into Windows Safe Mode Also you say that you just purchased kaspersky which antivirus did you have prior to this?? Some antivirus apps like to hang around after uninstall via add remove programs and require the use of removal tools,it could be that the service from your previous antivirus is still running and conflicting with kaspersky.
um ok none of that worked i tried the cleanstartup, i also tried in and out of safemode still no response. i had avg, then got rid of that and had a trial of kaspersky the antivirus one um and yeah i had just been using add/remove programs to get rid of them
ha ok i was messing around, i fixed it!!! when you had said about kaspersky not uninstalling itself correctly i rembered that when i did install it basically it shat a brick because it was conflicting with the previous one and i removed it and then tried to let kaspersky fix the error, this is when the mess started and just now i went into all programs and under kaspersky clicked modify, repair, remove. i wassss going to remove it and just thought id try repairing it first ... and well it worked i have full function of my mouse again
courtzz, the only av I use, the only av i recommend is Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). You will never have problems using MSE. Shall we mark this as closed?
Also run the Kaspersky removal tool just to be sure everything kaspersky is gone. Removal tool for Kaspersky Lab products
Also to ensure that all of Avg is gone please run the avg removal tool. |MG| AVG Remover 2012.1796 Download As far as what nameisuser suggest I agree MSE is a great free antivirus.
