when i start up my laptop the screen just goes white and doesnt change. it was working just fine but i had a hinge that broke so i took apart to fix hinge and put it all together and now i just get a white screen when i turn it on. i plugged a vga monitor into the laptop and that screen displayed correctly but the laptop screen still displayed white. any ideas what this could be? thanks
Hello originalt80 and welcome I hate to be the bearer of bad news but taking the screen off has rendered it an expensive paperweight in my opinion but you can try these suggestions found below http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2011/01/07/laptop-screen-shows-strange-wrong-colors/
Well i highly doubt that by removing the screen from the cover and all would render a laptop useless.. im assuming most likely it is just the cable has had a wire inside it get broke or something so i am going to try a new one as soon as it arrives here and that should most likely fix it. suggestions still appreciated thanks
well it wasnt the cable i tried a different one and it did not fix the problem and i also tried a different screen which still had same issue... some help would be appreciated people thanks
Hi there Originalt80 The dm4 was -and still is-quite tricky to service. (see Maintenance and Service Guide here). I'd say something is wrong with the LCD cable for starters...
i replaced the lcd ribbon cable and that did not help the issue.. i used the maintenance and service guide for servicing it
Originalt80 in such cases is not easy to determine whether the LCD, the LCD cable -or both- are defect. You may have even inadvertently damaged the Mainboard connection. This is the reason when a Notebook arrives with cracked LCD, repair service usually replaces both LCD and Cable (and the customer complains of a rip-off...)
