A couple of weeks ago, my CD-ROM wouldn't play a DVD or recognize any CDs I tried to play. I checked my Device Manager, and under "DVD/CD-ROM drives", the one I have is "Slimtype BD E DS6E2SH". There is a symbol of the exclamation mark in a yellow triangle, so I clicked to see what was wrong. I don't remember what the code was for what it said, but I uninstalled the driver. Now it says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" I just want to be able to play CDs again. What should I do? I have a Lenovo G770 which runs Windows 7. Thanks!! I also downloaded Driver Detective, which scanned it and said there was a problem, but they make you pay and register to do anything. I was hoping for some possible free solutions.
Try this, it helped me when I was having problem with my CD drive (different error code, but ... ) - Fix problems with CD or DVD drives that can’t read or write media
Hello matxjos and wecome to the forum. I would suggest that as this appears to be a registry issue, try uninstalling the device via the device manager and then allowing Windows to rediscover the device and install the drivers for it.
