Well, I wanted my homegroup to work so when I one day got a laptop I could share my printer over the network as well as the other computers in the house... so I started messing around with it. Both of the other current computers have Windows 7, and so will my future laptop... Went to the control panel, HomeGroup... Tried to view or print the password so the other 2 computers could connect. Neither of them belong to a homegroup, but this one somehow does. Makes the link-clicking sound when I hit it but nothing comes up. So, next, tried to change the password. HOMEGROUP Windows cannot set up a homegroup on this computer. Yet at the top of the main control panel window below "Change Homegroup Settings" it says "This computer belongs to a homegroup" Mixed messages... argh. So finally I try to leave the homegroup. Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup. So im locked in a homegroup with... myself.
None of that is helpful lol, that's everything ive already tried. What's this workgroup thing about tho and how do I get to it?
By default workgroup is enabled so you can use your shares as you can in vista,xp etc. What are you trying to do? You can remove homegroups with a reg hack if all else fails
