home network sharing conflicting

    sorry i have been sick...
    I tried removing the usb cable, the local area connection 2 disappears. Why?

    Please confirm - you DO have a network cable going from this PC to the ROUTER?

    LAN2 was the connection made with the modem.

    Router : Ethernet cable that goes to computer
    Ethernet cable that goes to modem
    power cable



    Modem: Power cable
    Eternet cable to router
    Cable to a usb port of computer(Cannot be removed, if so, the LAN2 will disappear)
    coaxial cable


    Current setting is obtain ip automatically and its ip is 169.254.179.203

    But you don't want a LAN2. That USB cable is the issue for your connectivity.

    Is it possible to get a different modem - no USB cable - or to try as we have suggested - without the USB cable in place?

    But i have used lan2 for years now with the router. Can we revert back to the original where i use lan2 and can use laptops also?

    Sorry. I do not have another modem

    You've been setup and working with a router and a USB modem cabled in for 2 years? Wow - this is a setup I have never seen then.

    I'll search around and see what I can find to support continuing your connection in that fashion.

    Just try it...

    Disconnect the USB cable.

    If your cables are now as per post #56 and all is set to DCHP then it will all work!

    hey it works now... I just disconnect the usb and i connect it to lan5 and it works. How stubborn was i before...
    Its been one long month.
