Okay. This is probably gonna sound crazy, but bear with me.

I had an idea and I wish to fulfill it. I want a Windows XP installation that will run 3 applications:
    • Heroes of Might & Magic 3 with HD mod installed
    • GameRanger
    • Some simple, silent firewall that will only allow GameRanger to use the internet.
Here's the twist. I don't want to ever see the Windows Start bar, button, anything. I want to see as little DOS or Windows boot stuff as absolutely possible. I don't want to see explorer.exe at all at startup, I just want Heroes and Gameranger to run at startup.

The PC will be connected to a touchscreen monitor I will have built into my coffee table.

Furthermore, I want Heroes to run in full screen at 1920*1080 and I want a two-finger tap to bring GameRanger to the top, but keeping Heroes 3 visible in the background while it's open. Two-finger tap should minimize GameRanger again.

I can imagine I'll have to use nLite or something to tweak XP, but I'm not sure it's enough to get what I want. Also, I have no idea where to post this, so I'm posting under Gaming. If this belongs in Windows XP or a third subforum, please move it.

    Thank you for your time.

I don't think all this is possible.

Firstly, you need a tablet version of XP(touch capable) that sadly, isn't sold separately. And you can't just have GameRanger and your program run at startup, there are a lot of services and processes essential to the running of Windows, can't just skip that.

A media center PC with a touchscreen monitor may be able to do all that.

Oh. Well. You sure? Touch capable absolutely has to be integrated into the OS?
I know a lot of hidden processes have to run, the point is more that I want to hide as much of Windows as possible.

Well it seems KEYTEC inc. has touch screens for XP.

My coffee table will be epic.
