Hello dagypc and Welcome to PCHF :)

From what I see at work with DV9000 series, I'd say check your HDD -especially SMART attribute 187

Go here and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB stick, to check your HDD's S.M.A.R.T. records:
Download the free program SMARTUDM - HDD S.M.A.R.T. Viewer - it is on the bottom of the page, scroll down to find it-then unzip it and put the executable on the USB stick you have made bootable, OR ANY BOOTABLE USB STICK YOU MAY HAVE, that boots in DOS mode.

Due to chipset limitations, SMARTUDM cannot detect HDD attached to a Notebook, so you will have to attach your HDDs to a Desktop PC.

Put the downloaded program on the Bootable USB stick you have created (or a boot floppy) and boot from it.

After you boot your system from the floppy (or the USB), on the prompt type: smartudm

Select the HDD you want to see the S.M.A.R.T. records from, and keep pressing <ENTER> until the program asks you to press R to generate a report.

When back in Windows, open the report(s) with Notepad, save as .txt (makes viewing easier) and post it here.
