Google plans to cut 4,000 jobs in its Motorola arm and consolidate about 1/3 of its 90 locations. 66% of the job cuts will be outside of the United States http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/story/2012-08-13/google-motorola-57025544/1
Plus the fact Motorola have pushed away a lot of their customers by locking the bootloaders and refusing to allow users to be able to unlock them...
uhm... Thats alot of changes to suddenly make. Sounds like one arm of the company isn't making enough profits to maintain itself. i think Google are cutting back on areas, so they can plough more resources into other areas of the company.
google is doing the right thing. they are bringing jobs back to the United States. as far as the bootloaders, motorola launched a website to unlock bootloaders, they are currently working on the adding of devices onto the site. with google as the new owner of motorola, you are going to see really good changes. Honestly, when have you ever seen any kind of bad move from google? every move they have made has been in the best interest of the consumer. That is part of ther business philosophy, do work for the consumer, not the business itself! in other words, they are not greedy like most companies are.
