On startup I receive the following, and it flashes across the screen for just a moment: "g program not found."



Can anyone say what this means? I installed a trial of Diskeeper 2011 just before this started but other than that my system has been the same as usual.

Yes. it does occur before Windows starts.

I did an internet search this is some of what I found:

"I installed Diskeeper Pro Premier 2009 on my computer and need to run chkdsk before it will run automatically. When I reboot my computer, chkdsk says it is missing files and can not run. Soooo, I used my recovery CD for Windows XP and got CHKDSK to run, and it said that there were files that needed to be fixed, but it didn't fix them."



1. "--try it again using chkdsk /p this time. should replace the missing file(s)


" (But) I get a blue screen with this message....g program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK"

3. "Fix your BootExecute registry key:

It should read "autocheck autochk *".

I honestly don't know what to do or even if this is a serious error (but it certainly doesn't sit well with me).

hi

i have got a simular problem but worse !

turned my pc on today and then straight away i got a blue screen from windows saying a problem with a disk ? a think it said G disk. it needed to fix the issue be for startingt up. it said it ad fixed the problem after a couple of minuets , and while it was fixing the issue it deleted lots of things of it ? anyway now the pc turns on and when its loggin on to windows it just shuts down and the restarts again thats all it will do ?. i can get on to the start up advanced options but not sure which 1 to pick , if that will work ? can anyone help me please

smiglips: I think your issue is a different one: it would warrant its own thread. In the advanced options, you would go to Safe Mode and see if you can start that way. Then you might check Event Log to see what's happened to make it do that.
