I bought new PC and facebook won't load in Chrome nor Firefox. But when I try on my laptop, there's no problem. With both computers I use Windows 7, however every other website works normally. Anyone knows what seems to be a problem?

    Does Facebook load in IE?
    If yes, please report.

    If no, rename C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\HOSTS
    to HOSTS.OFF

    Report.

Well, this is another problem the system won't let me install IE on new PC. It works fine on my laptop though.

Where do I rename that? How do I do it?

This test failed. Take no action.

When your browser will not load Facebook, what do you experience? What does your browser do?

I tried in IE8 and it also doesn't work, again it's working on my laptop.

Bascially it shows me "the website cannot be displayed".

Ok, I think I solved the problem. I removed the antivirus program, which comes along with Win7 and I kept one of the programs which are available on internet and it works fine now. Facebook is running smoothly.

Edit: The problem is back

I understand. Generally, the message "the website cannot be displayed" indicates that a particular website is either offline or blocked locally.

Facebook is not offline. If a router blocks a website, it is typical that you will get a page redirect to something like "Your router blocked this page."

Spybot and related apps, anti-virus programs, ad-blockers, HOSTS file managers, et al, tend to include Facebook/MySpace in some of their blacklists.

"The problem is back" is an odd one.

Close your browsers. Open Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\ Find the file named HOSTS. Right click that file. Choose Rename. Rename the file - I use HOSTS.OFF - it does not matter. Test.

Ok, I did everything you said. It was a bit of a struggle since I don't have english windows. but hopefully I managed.

I don't know if this is relevant, but after I c+p "netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log" it said "failed".

It's working now, I just hope it's not only one of those good moments. Will get back at you. And one giant THANK YOU *ye%
