I have several older dos based programs that I use regularly. When my FAT 32 drive crashed in XP and I reinstalled a new motherboard and an NTFS drive with XP pro, SP2, the dos programs appear on the screen but the keyboard will not activate the menus that drive them. Any solutions would be appreciated. may contact by email if you will use tech support in subject line. Otherwise, spam blocker will delete your response.
    Thanks

Hi there and welcome to PCHF

Have you tried the XP compatibility mode? Right click on the shortcut for the program you wish to use and then the compatibility mode tab. From there you can tweak the program for use.

Tried the compatibility mode with no results. Any other ideas?

No, I tried a usb keyboard, but switched back to the regular motherboard plug (small one).

here is link to Micorsoft that addresses this issue.

what are the names of the programs you are trying to run?

another thought on this one... you could also try using MS Virtual PC 2004 that often helps with many compatibility problems
