I've recently had a few problems with my PC and decided to start over and give Linux Ubuntu a try.

After deciding that it's not for me (I'm also having some problems with the display turning itself off after a period of time) I tried to create a partition on a seperate hard drive to install windows Vista on to.

I've tried creating an unformatted partition, an NTFS partition and a FAT32 partition and the windows boot disc is not recognizing any of these.

So in short, does any one know how I can install windows over a Linux Ubuntu system correctly?

I also have no problem with losing data as there currently is none!

Any help would be appreciated, i'm going crazy!

That sounds a bit of a mess Max.

What does it say on the Vista disk that you have?

Welcome to PCHF by the way.

I actually got it working to an extent.
I just reformatted both my hard drives to NTFS using the live Ubuntu disc and that worked and i got vista installed fine.
Just having some problems getting the graphics card to work now.
    At least it's a start!

What make and model is the PC and did the card come with it?

If not, what is the card?

Or is this a hand built box?
