I recently received an email where the sender name was my sister's name, her original last name and the name she took when she married. I'm guessing maybe someone gained access to her account, but the problem is, the email the message was sent from was firstname.lastname@example.org, and my sister said she still has access to her email. So either someone stole her identity and is using it for the email scams, or the scammer gained access to her account. But I'm not sure which. If someone got into her account, I could understand them using her name, but why does the email show something different even though she still has access? If someone is stealing her identity, I'm confused HOW they got her name. Any ideas?
