Hi again. Here's my problem: While using YouTube (or any streaming source) the video and audio become very choppy (almost like a short-delay echo) if I try to do anything else on the PC. This includes scrolling down the page or even hovering over a hyperlink. The problem is not buffer-related as this occurs even after a video has completely loaded (and I have already cleared the cache). This has only begun recently, say, in the last month or so, and it does not seem to matter whether or not the other computer is in use. Hardware and other related info: OS - XP Browser - Latest version of Firefox (I haven't tried another browser yet to isolate the problem, but this began prior to updating Firefox, and, since buffering/download speed is fine, I don't think the browser is the issue) Broadband home wireless I have seen other people with similar issues on other forums, and nobody has given a satisfactory answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Joe

In your next reply can you send me a fresh hijack this log and let me know ho things are going.
OK, I did everything as directed, and it all went perfectly as advertised. I still have the stuttering/choppy audio/video as I scroll the page or move the cursor across other hyperlinks on the page or try to type while working on another tab. In other words, same problem. One thing I did, though, was to open the task manager, and it appears that as I do the actions described, the CPU usage spikes to the max; if I just watch the vid and do nothing else, the CPU usage is minimal, mostly "system idle process". The culprit sucking the CPU is the browser (firefox.exe). So I switched to IE, watched the same video, did the same things with the mouse, and still spiked the CPU except now, of course, it's IE that's sucking the juice. Anyway, here's the latest HijackThis log (attached) after completing what you instructed me to do.
Lets see if Mcafee is the cause it is known to cause a wide variety of issues. Run the removal tool. You can always reinstall Mcafee if it is not the cause. http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=5420&file=15&evp=24176563d608d7bfb04f95b4c72f1b9e Then install avast or mse http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free...0019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5201

Hi, I followed your instructions, and, unfortunately, the problem is still there. Attached please find an updated HijackThis log, performed AFTER these latest fixes listed in your last reply. Cheers, Joe
Please open your device manager and then uninstall your audio driver and then reboot. Now visit the intel auto update utility with internet eplorer and see if there are any updates for your display driver or just install anything that they offer you. http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/ Now try driver max to see if there any driver updates for your machine just make sure not to install anything that comes bundled with driver max see shot below.Make sure and untick the highlighted boxes when installing. You only get two free updates a day so start with your audio and video and then move on to the chipset and so on. http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/
similar problem here - http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/929500 it seems flash is the culprit. i have been through a lot of the same shiz as the OP, but the problem is with Flash, not necessarily with anything on your PC
