Just wondering if anyone knows if I can burn this type of disk on my PC, I know I can burn a DVD-RW 4.7 disk but what about a DVD-R DL 8.5GB Disk or a DVD+R DL 8.5 these disk http://www.google.co...t:429,r:3,s:0??

You said this:

How do I get the system specs you need?

If the drive model mentioned in your first post is right then as per the spec sheet I linked it will write on Dual Layer discs. If it is not then we need to reverify? So post your system specs and we will go from there!

Where did you get all the system info (specs) you copied and pasted on the first post from? What is your model number of the Acer PC?

newlight - don't know whether you are missing the posts above or finding it hard to understand the instructions!

That is the drive I posted the specs for above (GSA-H41N) and it does play dual layered discs as per that! Please post your specs by following this guide if you think I'm not talking about the right drive!

ok thanks my drive is NOT DVD-R Dual Layer compatible according to that link DVD-RW_GSA-H41N HL-DT-ST, it only supports DVD+R Dual Layer discs. This was quite common around 3 or 4 years ago. So it looks like my drive is seeing the first layer of your DVD-R discs, but cannot see the second layer.

So you might want to double check again! Best source would be the manufacturer (ACER)!

Just when I try to burn a DVD-R Dual Layer 8.5 it only records what a 4.7 disk would and sometimes on some burning programes it just says there is no disc in my machine.

Why that link, what is special about that site - is that somehow related to where you got the drive from?

or the version you link to is a refurbished US model on a US site which may be different to the UK model in your PC?

Basically all I want to do is burn a video onto a 8.5 DVD-R DL Blank Disk? Can I do this on my PC? If so can someone guide me through how to do this?
