I was using Photoshop and installing some brushes and it just stopped responding then had a BSOD, I only caught the Kernal Data part, so it may be a few things. Also when I was on my Xbox a few days back my laptop had a blue screen then, didn't catch what it was then so this may be the same one that happened and that time nothing was running on my computer.

I know quite a bit about computers and everything but the one thing I can't do is know how to analyze and find the solution to BSOD's if you can help me with my BSOD can you also explain how you find the solution?

Attached should be the .zip file :)

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello.

Please download this tool http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?d53ohzo1ec6bxmw and save it to the desktop. Run it as admin and attach the produced archive. If the archive size is over 1MB, upload it here www.speedyshare.com

Have you saved the tool on the desktop? The archive should turn up in the same folder where the tool is being run.

From what I can see in the logs, your WD disk has some problems. It overheats a bit, it has a number of logged read errors.
Prior to replacing the drive, smart things to do are:
    - back up the data, but you already did that :)
    - check the sata cable connections
    - replace the sata cable
    - use another sata port on your motherboard

The latter three are pure formality, I think your WD HDD is experiencing serious mechanical problems.

Sorry again for a late reply, I had 5 files left to backup and my laptop kept crashing and blue screening... now it wont stay even in explorer so the hard drive is dead, luckily the files were brushes for photoshop and not the thousands of photos of my child and partner!
Well as the hard drive is dead is there any reason it would overheat? Because I have a new one from a portable hard drive that I had about a year ago and was wondering if I put Windows on that would it break like this one? Because I don't want to break another hard drive :(
Also how would I go about checking the sata cable on a laptop?

Sorry, I didn't get it was a laptop, those don't come with sata cables :p

As for overheating, it's actually the other way around. If the drive gets damaged mechanically or for some reason has trouble reading, it will naturally start to generate extra heat. Laptop HDDs are usually rather exposed since laptops get all the extra motion and vibration during everyday use. Your new HDD should work normally as long as you manage to mechanically stress it as less as possible. That includes slapping the laptop around or dropping it all over the place :) HDD is the most mechanically sensitive component and needs the extra care.

Once you replace the drive post back and let us know about how things are going.
