    Hello-

    Hello-

    I'm new to this forum and am in dire need of some help.

    My Windows 7 Ultimate x64 machines keeps BSODing when I stream video from the web or if I play it locally off of my bluray drive or off of my NAS.

    I've ran memtest86 on both of my memory sticks to see if that's the problem but they both check out just fine.

    I have attached the last 3 minidump files produced by the BSOD. I just built this system over the holidays for me and the wifey as our new HTPC. It's been working great except for this.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

    Here are my hardware specifications:

    * Shuttle SH55J2 barebones case with MoBo and 300 watt PS
    * 2 x 4096 MB G.Skill DDR3 667MHz RAM
    * Intel Core i5 760 CPU
    * ATI Radeon HD5570 PCIe 2.0 graphics card
    * ATAPI iHBS212 BluRay Drive
    * MAXTOR STM3160812AS SATA 160GB hard drive
    * Linksys USB54G USB wireless G adapter
    * Windows 7 Ultimate x64

    All the dmp you post point to stop code 124, which is hardware related. I have taken a quick look through your drivers and see that there is one particular driver that is so old. I doubt this to be the cause
    Code:
    rt2500usb rt2500usb.sys Wed Nov 08 00:46:27 2006 (45517D43)

    It is date from 2006, which is bad enough to cause your BSODs. It is wireless USB adapter driver file that is usually for Linksys (or might be others). If you are using a wireless adapter that plugs into your USB port, you most likely need this file. Please if you know what it is, update rightaway or get rid of it

    Also, take your time and read this article, it contain basic steps that you should take when u see this type of error (memtest is one of them and you did, very good)
    Stop code 124, what one should do

    BUGCHECK SUMMARY:
    Code:
    BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa8007f91028, b2000000, 10005}

    Probably caused by : hardware

    Good luck :)

    Thank you tauntran. I've updated the drive for the wireless USB adapter to a 2010 driver. I also have my doubts that this is the issue, but it is definitely worth investigating. If I continue to get BSODs, I'll hardwire the machine to my router and test like that. I'll keep you all posted. I should know right away if the driver update was successful or not.

    thanks again and stay tuned...

    Ok. So I updated the driver for the linksys wireless USB adapter, rebooted, and it blue screened 10 minutes afterwards.

    I have attached 2 more dump files. 1 is before the driver update this morning and the other is after the driver update.

    Maybe there's something else going on?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    After was caused by hardware.

    Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .. A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try - Windows 7 Forums

    Thanks

    Thanks for giving a 2nd look. I'm going to systematically start testing hardware. I'll start by hardwiring my machine and getting rid of the USB adapter. I'll keep you all posted.

    Thanks again!

    Thank you!

    I hardwire the PC and it BSOD'd very quickly. So.....

    I've decided to take the following approach:

    * reinstall Win7 vanilla (no 3rd party drivers or unecessary hardware)
    * stress test bare metal build, if no BSOD, then...
    * start installing components 1 by 1 and test (graphics card, bluray drive, etc, etc)

    Hopefully, this way I can weed out what's working and what's not.

    I'll keep you all posted.

    Thanks again!

    Hello everyone.

    I thought I'd update status on this. I was able to narrow my hardware failure down to the motherboard.

    I had the Shuttle PC swapped out for a new replacement and have been running 48 hours without issue.

    Thank you all for you help on this. You all are offering a great service.

    THANK YOU!!!!
