BSOD on Vista Home Premium.

    Hello, for some months now i had some Blue Screens, all with the same problem.
    And it remains that i don't understand a bit of it because i never had it befor. Thanks.

    I had to remove 6 or 7 Dumbfiles because it were to big.

    Hi Cherry, welcome to PCHF,

    Usually BSOD's are reported by and handled by software - the Windows Kernel, weather that's a device driver problem of some kind, problems found in memory or whatever. In your case, these problems have been reported by the CPU to the Operating System in the form of a MCE (Machine Check Exception). The OS must respond with a blue screen. With this kind of log, nothing about what led to the stop error is shown here, but a "WHEA Record" which provides us with a hint of where the problem might be is also not available in these logs either, but would be CPU or Motherboard related.

    Given serious nature of this error, I would suggest ruling out the unlikely possibility that there is no software problem that could have led to this. First of all, please update Vista to Service Pack 2 (long since been released), from Control Panel > System and Security > Check for updates.

    The only software I've seen capable of causing this is Security software, particularly any firewall components. Consider removing any such software to see if your problems persist, however the only real way to rule out software completely would be on a clean installation (without loading any 3rd party software and drivers) to see if your problems persist.

    Its just that i allready made my Pc reinstall so it would work as it did when i bought it like 3 years ago. But the BSOD's continued to come. But i will try that with System and Security.:) I'll respond afterwards. Thanks Monkey!

    And when i use BlueScreenView i tried look in XP Mode and then i said it maybe was caused by Hal.dll. But i don't know.

    I don't have a System and Security in Control Panel at same place but 2 diffrent? What should i do? Sry if i sound dumb, but i don't understand that much of Computers. :)

    I thought you might have done a re-install already, but the mistake a lot of people tend to make after a re-install is that they install all of the usual rubbish that was installed previously, not realizing that the problem has just been installed along with it.

    BlueScreenView is only a very basic utility, it can not be used to identify hardware problems. hal.dll was simply one of the modules that handled the MCE (previously mentioned). We use Windows Debug to properly analyze the crash, and as I mentioned, in a 0x124, nothing about what actually led to the crash would be implicated.

    Windows updates are important as they not only contain security updates to help protect your PC, but fixes to known problems as well. It must have been turned off if you don't even know what it is, but it may show as "System and Maintenance" in Vista, or you have them arranged in "Classic view". I try to stay away from Vista so I don't know for certain, but take a look around some of the options here, you will definitely find it.

    Well if you could give me an advice to try something i would be happy cause. I don't really know what else to do. Should i download Windows Debugger? And if i should which one should i download?

    Did you find Windows Updates? have you considered a clean installation just to make sure this is not a software issue. Once were 100% certain it's not software, your best bet would take the laptop down to your local repair shop, as it's not going to be something you'll be able to fix yourself.
