This thread is linked to this one: http://www.pchelpforum.com/xf/threads/bsod-on-shut-down.131962. I couldn't post there because the thread is not open to replies.

I had another one of these BSODs on shutdown the other night. This is more than two months after the first. I'm not sure if that really merits looking in to it any further. It's not like it's happening randomly or even frequently - just very occasionally, but so far both times in the same circumstances. Should I post the necessary items here for review or wait and see if it happens again?

Well, the available memory dumps are not very informative.

They point to general memory corruption issue. Which are the circumstances you're talking about?

What's the exact laptop model? We can look into trying to update the drivers and possibly test the memory a bit with memtest.

    It's a tecra a8/ Toshiba satellite pro a120; psac1e-oj303lza

It has happened on shut down twice, albeit two months apart. I'll select shut down from the start menu and I get this blue screen. Then the thing restarts and I end up at a screen with choices of what to do - boot up normally; boot up in safe mode, etc.

OK, new day new opportunities :)

Wireless update here http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads Look here http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD16036E0000R01.htm to find out which is your exact device, you should go for Vista 32 bit, of course.

You may look into flashing the bios found here http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20070709151855.zip
More info about it here http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm This process can be a bit risky at times, it's questionable if this issue is worth this (albeit minor) risk for you

    Bluetooth http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/blt-mon-20080724152024.zip
Bt stack http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download-toshiba the top download should be the one
Some kind of update, not really sure what it is http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/sdla-20071005135728.zip
    Intel display http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/display-20080306092730.zip
Modem http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/mdm-GB-20080724152158.zip even though you're probably not using it
    Sound drivers http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/sound-20080606114434.zip
Some tuning service http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/tempro-20081106132440.html if you don't use it currently, you can probably safely ignore
    Touchpad driver http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/tpdrv-20080724151648.zip
    HDD protection utility http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/hddprot-20080724152005.zip

When I give a second look to your drivers I see you have both zone alarm and AVG installed. You should try updating both, some of their drivers seem to be up to date, while others are not.

I do have the latest versions of AVG and ZA, as far as I know. I update AVG every day, and I check the release history over at ZA, and the latest one was released in March - which I have.

All those links are suggestions, then? Are those downloads weighty at all? I'm capped. :(

Not too bad, then. I'll consider it, especially if this BSOD issue gets any worse. Just really worried I'll make things worse. :)

Hi. I haven't had any more issues. I thought I would wait and see, and if anything more does occur (more BSODs), then I'll try some if not all of these updates posted above by mkey82. And if the blue screens of death still persist, then we know it's probably something else. Thanks.
