All my folders morph to ".exe"

    My ever trusted brothers,



    I hope you can help me again in my PC.

    Here goes
    After plugging my cousins PSP all my folders changed to ".exe" files. and the files in some folders are gone. I think my system is now in grave danger. All i want now is to at least back up my recently added pictures.

    i hope you guys can help me in this.

    i also tried avg free antivirus but it wont heal my system. It only deletes the whole folder, deleting all folders (now .exe folders) one by one.. ......

    Is there a hope?

    Hi wake, try using System Restore, and go back to time long forgotten, when things worked as they should.

    I also cant open the system restore, all the folders in start button is already ".exe" and if i point my mouse into that folder AVG detects a Virus or a Worm/ Brontok.MR ?? unable to heal the folder, moving the folder to quarantine instead. Right now my virus vault is full.
    Also tried scheduled task in the control panel to restore my PC to its previous good condition but if failed.

    What should i do...

    You can also start system restore from the command line: (this is for Vista)

    "You can start System Restore from a command prompt window if you can't start your computer in any mode other than safe mode with command prompt.



    1. Start your computer in safe mode with command prompt. For more information, see Start your computer in safe mode.
    2. At the command prompt, type rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    Note: If you use System Restore when the computer is in safe mode, you can't undo the restore operation. However, you can run System Restore again and choose a different restore point if one exists."

    rstrui.exe command does not recognize.

    My OS is XP SP2.

    Anything else i can do BRO?

    try typing from the cmd prompt

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe

    from the cmd prompt type
    set
